I would like to acknowledge and pay my respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live and work, the Kombumerri families of the Yugambeh Language Region. I pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald b. 1992, is an Australian-Thai artist based on Yugambeh Country. Her lens-based practice uses photo media, video and digital art techniques to explore identity, culture and engage community. The balance between the duality of Ellamay’s Australian and Thai heritage is an ongoing exploration in her work. As a second generation Australian-Thai person growing up mixed-race in Australia, her work is largely influenced by lived experiences and perceptions of culture, identity and place.

Offering a female gaze, Ellamay uses her arts practice as a platform to challenge social norms, elevate people from diverse cultural backgrounds and under-represented voices.

Ellamay graduated with a Bachelor of Photography from QCA Brisbane, 2014. She has presented works both solo and collaboratively for THE WALLS Art Space, Bleach Festival 2020, Placemakers Gold Coast, Mint Art House, Level Up Gallery, Level One Seventeen Gallery, Running Duck Theatre Company, SUNSTUDIOS Sydney and QCA Brisbane.

Ellamay is currently an active member of the Youth Advisory Group for HOTA Gallery.
